Description
This is a Winchester Model 70 bolt action rifle chambered in .25 Winchester Super Short Magnum (WSSM), featuring the specialized short action receiver tailored for this high-velocity cartridge. The rifle is equipped with a 24 inch barrel finished in matte black, which is configured without iron sights and currently features two-piece Talley brand scope ring bases. The barreled action is housed in a Boyds grey and black laminated wood stock that includes two sling swivel studs and a black rubber recoil pad marked with the Boyds logo. The bolt assembly has a jeweled finish on the body and a textured, knurled bolt handle. Verbatim markings on the barrel include – WINCHESTER ® MODEL 70 25 WSSM – and MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CT U.S.A. The left side of the receiver is stamped WINCHESTER ® TRADEMARKS LICENSED FROM OLIN CORP. and the right side bears the serial number G2592495. The rifle is missing its optics, though the rings remain, and a visible scratch is present on the hinged floorplate. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The matte black finish on the barrel and receiver is generally well-preserved with minor handling marks and a single noticeable scratch on the floorplate. The jeweled bolt body shows significant surface oxidation and areas of light rust that may require professional cleaning. The bore is bright with well-defined rifling. The action appears to cycle smoothly, though the firearm has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The Boyds laminate stock is in excellent condition with minimal evidence of wear.
