Description
This is a single-shot, break-action shotgun chambered in 16 gauge, featuring a 30-inch barrel with a fixed choke. The firearm is equipped with an external hammer, a top-lever release mechanism, and a single trigger. The metal components exhibit a heavily worn finish transitioning to a dark brown patina with areas of light surface oxidation consistent with age. The furniture consists of a smooth wood stock and forend showing various dings and scratches from field use. A vintage leather lace-up recoil pad is attached to the buttstock, and a small brass bead front sight is mounted at the muzzle. Prominent markings include the transcription on the left side of the receiver reading HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON ARMS CO. WORCESTER, MASS. U.S.A. PAT. FEB 27 1900 and the barrel stamp 16 GA CHOKE. The serial number 168661 is clearly visible on the lower tang behind the trigger guard. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal surfaces show a mostly brown patina with significant thinning of the original finish and scattered light surface oxidation. The wood stock and forend are in used condition with numerous dings, scratches, and pressure marks, though no major cracks are visible. The bore has not been inspected for brightness or pitting. The action appears to function correctly with the top lever and hammer operating smoothly, but the firearm has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The vintage leather recoil pad is aged and cracked but remains intact.
