Description
This is a Remington Model 11 recoil-operated semi-automatic shotgun chambered in 12 gauge, designed for field use and based on John Browning’s iconic long-recoil patent. The firearm is equipped with a 30 inch barrel featuring a fixed full choke and a single brass bead front sight. The metal surfaces are finished in a traditional bluing, while the furniture consists of a plain walnut stock and forend. The stock has been modified with the addition of an aftermarket White Line vented rubber recoil pad. Key markings include the model designation and serial number on the left side of the receiver, which reads MODEL 11 over 280341. The upper tang is marked with the Remington TRADE MARK stamp. The top of the barrel contains a two-line manufacturer and patent address: THE REMINGTON ARMS UNION METALLIC CTG. CO. INC. REMINGTON ILION WKS. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A. / BROWNINGS PATENTS OCTOBER 9, 1900, DEC. 17, 1901, SEPT. 30, 1902, AND JUNE 16, 1903. Additional barrel markings include a circled REP proof mark and the choke designation FULL on the right side. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The shotgun exhibits a well-used appearance consistent with its age. The blued finish shows significant thinning and wear throughout the barrel and receiver, with visible surface speckling and minor pitting present on the receiver flats. The walnut stock and forend remain structurally sound but display numerous small scratches, dings, and surface abrasions from field use. The aftermarket recoil pad shows age-related wear and hardening. The bore was not internally inspected, but the exterior suggests a lifetime of service. The action appears to function correctly when cycled manually, though the firearm has not been function-tested with live ammunition.
