Description
This Remington Smoot New Model No. 2 single action spur trigger revolver is chambered for the .32 rimfire cartridge and designed as a compact personal defense firearm. The revolver features a 2.75 inch ribbed barrel equipped with a fixed blade front sight and an integrated ejector rod mounted to the right side of the frame. The five shot cylinder and frame are steel with an original nickel finish that has significantly aged. The firearm is fitted with checkered black hard rubber bird’s head grips secured by a single grip screw. Key markings on the top of the barrel rib are transcribed verbatim as E. REMINGTON & SONS . ILION . N.Y. PAT. W. S. SMOOT OCT. 21 1873. The serial number is not clearly visible on the exterior of the frame. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The original nickel finish shows significant wear with heavy flaking, pitting, and surface oxidation present across the frame, cylinder, and barrel. The bore has not been internally inspected but likely exhibits oxidation consistent with the exterior. The single action mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled, though the firearm has not been function tested with live ammunition. The checkered hard rubber grips are well preserved with light smoothing to the texture and no visible cracks.
