Description
This is a Remington Model 581 bolt-action rimfire rifle chambered for .22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle cartridges. The firearm is equipped with a blued steel barrel and receiver mated to a smooth wood stock. Key markings on the barrel include the manufacturer address Remington Arms Co., Inc. Ilion, N.Y. Made in U.S.A., a script Remington logo, the model designation Model 581, and the caliber 22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle. The left side of the receiver is stamped with the serial number 1065732. The barrel also features a REP within an oval proof mark and assembly codes W and 78. Iron sights are provided, featuring a fixed front post and a rear notch sight that is adjustable for elevation, while the receiver is grooved for tip-off scope mounts. The stock terminates in a black plastic buttplate embossed with the Remington logo. Please note that the detachable box magazine is missing from this rifle. The overall design features a slim, sporting profile intended for target shooting or small game hunting. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The barrel and receiver retain most of their original bluing, showing some thinning near the muzzle and high points along with scattered light surface scratches and minor handling marks. The bore is bright and features crisp rifling. The bolt action appears to function correctly and cycles smoothly, though the rifle has not been function-tested. The wood stock is in used condition, displaying numerous small dings, compressions, and scratches through the finish across its surface. The black plastic buttplate is intact but contains some accumulation of debris in the textured areas. No magazine is included with this lot.
