Description
This is a single-shot break-action shotgun manufactured by Iver Johnson’s Arms & Cycle Works, featuring a 30 inch barrel equipped with a bead front sight. The firearm utilizes a side-lever release and an external hammer for operation. The furniture includes a smooth wood forend and a straight-comb wood stock fitted with a checkered black synthetic buttplate. A prominent feature is the oversized metal scroll-style trigger guard, which is currently missing its rear mounting screw. Verbatim markings on the left side of the receiver specify MANUFACTURED BY / IVER JOHNSON’S ARMS & CYCLE WORKS / FITCHBURG, MASS. U.S.A. while the top of the barrel is stamped IVER JOHNSON PAT’D APL’D FOR. The wood stock shows a significant longitudinal crack through the wrist on both the left and right sides. Condition report:
The metal surfaces exhibit a dark brown patina consistent with age, with areas of scattered surface oxidation and some light pitting. The wood stock and forend show numerous dings, scratches, and a prominent crack at the wrist. The bore has not been fully inspected, though the exterior condition suggests heavy field use. The action appears to function mechanically as the hammer and trigger operate, but the firearm has not been test-fired for safety or performance.
