Description
This J.C. Higgins Model 25 is a semi-automatic rimfire rifle chambered for .22 Long Rifle ammunition, featuring a full-length tubular magazine mounted beneath the barrel. The rifle is constructed with a blued steel barrel and receiver housed in a smooth-finished wood stock. The barrel is marked J. C. HIGGINS MODEL 25 PAT. PEND. SEARS, ROEBUCK AND CO. 583.2500 and further specifies FOR .22 L.R. ONLY. An additional LC stamp is visible on the barrel near the receiver junction. The receiver is equipped with a side-mounted charging handle and a top-mounted sliding safety marked SAFE with a directional arrow. Sighting is provided by a fixed front bead and an adjustable ramp rear sight. The wood furniture is fitted with a black composite buttplate featuring an embossed squirrel, a target, and the J.C. Higgins logo. No serial number is visible on this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The blued finish remains largely intact across the barrel and receiver, showing minor handling wear and faint surface oxidation in isolated areas. The wood stock is in fair condition, exhibiting numerous scratches, dings, and a significant horizontal crack on the right side of the wrist area above the trigger guard. The action appears to function correctly when manually cycled, although the firearm has not been live-fire tested. Light debris and lint are visible within the ejection port. The bore was not inspected.
