Description
This J. Stevens Favorite is a single-shot lever-action rifle chambered for .22 Long Rifle. The firearm features a full octagonal barrel and is equipped with a hooded front sight and a v-notch rear sight. The receiver features a side-lever action and a take-down screw with a ring located on the underside forward of the trigger guard. The furniture consists of a two-piece plain walnut stock and forend, showing a dark, aged finish with numerous dings and scratches consistent with use. The metal surfaces exhibit a heavy dark patina with evidence of surface pitting and oxidation throughout. The hard rubber buttplate is marked with the Stevens Favorite logo and is chipped at the top mounting screw. Key markings include the model designation FAVORITE on the top of the receiver and the manufacturer address J. STEVENS A & T CO. / CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS. U.S.A. on the left side of the receiver. The left flat of the barrel is marked 22 LONG RIFLE. The lower tang is stamped with the serial number R 973. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal surfaces show a consistent dark patina with areas of moderate pitting and oxidation, particularly on the receiver and barrel flats. The markings remain legible throughout. The walnut stock and forend exhibit significant wear, including scratches, abrasions, and a darkened finish from age and handling. The hard rubber buttplate is chipped at the top screw hole. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. The bore was not inspected for this report.
