Description
This bolt-action sporting rifle is built on a Yugoslavian-manufactured Mauser-style action and chambered for the .243 cartridge. The firearm is configured with a 24-inch blued barrel and a matching blued receiver, which features a polished bolt with a turned-down handle and an integrated floorplate magazine. The rifle is mounted in a checkered walnut stock designed with a Monte Carlo comb, a raised cheekpiece, and a pistol grip with a contrasting black cap. It is equipped with two-piece scope bases mounted to the receiver, a barrel band for the forward sling swivel, and an adjustable leather carrying sling. The buttstock is finished with a ventilated rubber recoil pad. Verbatim markings on the barrel include CAL. 243 HERTER’S INC. MODEL XK3. The left side of the receiver is marked with a circled Z logo and MADE IN YUGOSLAVIA. The recoil pad is marked JOSTAM MFG. CO. PEOTONE ILL. HY-GUN RECOIL-PAD with patent dates of OCT. 12 1915 and SEP. 20 1927. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The blued finish on the barrel and receiver shows moderate thinning on the high points and various light handling marks and scratches throughout. The wooden stock remains in good overall condition with well-defined checkering, though it exhibits several dings, impressions, and scratches consistent with field use. The polished bolt shows light surface wear and minor age-related oxidation. While the bore was not inspected, the action appears to function correctly; however, we have not function-tested this firearm. The leather sling is intact but shows cracking and surface wear from age.
