Description
This lot consists of 68 cartridges of .45 Colt ammunition along with associated vintage packaging. The collection is primarily housed in a red MTM Case-Gard plastic ammunition box containing 50 rounds, which features a handwritten adhesive label identifying them as .45 Colt Lead Target loads. An additional 18 items are present, including various brass and nickel-plated cartridges and a single nickel-plated shot shell with a blue plastic cap. Verbatim headstamps observed throughout the lot include W-W .45 COLT, R-P 45 COLT, F C 45 COLT, WESTERN .45 COLT, REM-UMC 45 COLT, and CCI 45 COLT. The ammunition is a mix of lead round-nose projectiles and shot shells, appearing to be a combination of factory loads and potential reloads. Also included is a vintage Winchester Super-X cardboard box for 20 centerfire pistol-revolver cartridges. The cartridges exhibit varying degrees of oxidation and age-related wear, with one loose round showing distinct heat-related discoloration and heavy tarnish on the brass case.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in varied condition ranging from fair to good. Many of the brass and nickel-plated cases show signs of surface oxidation, spotting, and age-related patina. The lead projectiles on several rounds exhibit white lead oxidation consistent with long-term storage. One cartridge is significantly discolored, suggesting exposure to high heat or corrosive elements. The vintage Winchester cardboard box shows shelf wear, edge fraying, and minor staining. The plastic MTM box is functional but shows surface scratches. This ammunition is sold as-is for display or component use; functionality is not tested or guaranteed.
