Description
This lot consists of two US military M2A1 steel ammunition storage containers, which were standard issue for transporting .50 caliber machine gun ammunition and other ordnance. Each container is constructed from stamped steel with a hinged lid, featuring a rubber gasket for a moisture-tight seal and a side-mounted tension-latching mechanism. Each unit includes a folding wire carry handle on the top. The cans are finished in standard olive drab green paint. Both units feature embossed markings on the side panel below the hinge. One container is marked with the year code 01 and the other with 08, corresponding to manufacture years of 2001 and 2008. Both units are stamped with the model designation M2A1 and the manufacturer code S.C.F.

Condition report:
Both containers show evidence of field use. The 2001-dated can exhibits significant surface scratching, paint loss, and areas of surface oxidation, primarily along the top lid and bottom edges. It has a white paper tag and blue adhesive tape attached. The 2008-dated can is in better overall condition with moderate surface scuffs and light oxidation. It retains remnants of yellow stenciled markings that appear partially scuffed or removed. Hinges and latches are in functional condition.
