Description
This is a single-shot break-action shotgun manufactured by Iver Johnson’s Arms & Cycle Works chambered for 16 gauge. The firearm features a 28-inch barrel with a choke bore and a single brass bead front sight. Key markings include the model designation CHAMPION and the manufacturer information IVER JOHNSON’S ARMS & CYCLE WORKS FITCHBURG, MASS. U.S.A on the left side of the receiver. The barrel is stamped 16 GAUGE CHOKE BORE BARREL AND LUG FORGED IN ONE along with patent dates specifying PAT’D JUNE 15 15. PAT’S PENDING. The serial number 19093 B is explicitly marked on the lower tang. The shotgun is fitted with a smooth wood stock and forend, and the stock is capped with a black hard rubber buttplate bearing the Iver Johnson owl head logo. The metal surfaces exhibit a mottled brown patina with areas of surface oxidation and light pitting throughout. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The barrel and receiver have transitioned to a mottled brown and gray patina with significant surface oxidation and scattered light pitting consistent with field use. The wood stock and forend show numerous scratches and dings, with a notable horizontal crack located on the right side of the wrist. The bore appears dark with some pitting present. The action appears to function correctly, with the hammer cocking and the break-action opening smoothly, although we have not function-tested this firearm with live ammunition. The hard rubber buttplate is intact with visible wear.
