Description
This is a single-shot, break-action shotgun manufactured by Harrington and Richardson, chambered in 12 gauge and equipped with a 30-inch barrel. The firearm features a long, smoothbore barrel with a single brass bead front sight and is choked as indicated by markings. The metal components exhibit a faded blued finish that has transitioned into a heavy brown patina with scattered surface oxidation and areas of light pitting across the barrel and receiver. The furniture consists of a wooden forend and a wooden buttstock; however, the buttstock is severely damaged with a large section of wood missing from the right side of the wrist, completely exposing the internal coil mainspring and action assembly. The left side of the receiver is marked HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON ARMS CO. / WORCESTER, MASS. U.S.A. along with patent dates PAT. FEB. 27. 1900 and MAY 14. 1901. The barrel is stamped 12 GA. CHOKE and the serial number 294363 is clearly visible on the lower tang. The shotgun retains its original hard rubber buttplate which bears the circular H&R ARMS CO. logo. Due to the severe structural damage to the stock, this firearm is offered for repair or parts. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal finish is in poor to fair condition, showing significant wear with the original bluing largely replaced by a mottled brown patina and widespread light oxidation. The bore has not been inspected but exterior condition suggests potential internal pitting. The action appears to cycle, but has not been function-tested for safety or firing capability. The wooden forend shows typical nicks and scratches consistent with age, while the buttstock is in poor condition due to a major structural break at the wrist that exposes the internal mechanics.
