Description
This lot consists of a total of 500 rounds of .22 caliber rimfire ammunition, primarily comprised of high velocity cartridges from the Winchester and Western brands. The ammunition is distributed across ten vintage cardboard boxes, each originally specified for 50 cartridges. The assortment includes Winchester Wildcat 22, Winchester Super-X 22 Long Rifle High Velocity, and Western Super-X 22 Rim Fire Extra Power. Two boxes are labeled specifically for Super-X 22 Long Rifle Shot cartridges. Verbatim box markings include Winchester Wildcat 22 High Velocity Rimfire Cartridges, Super-X 22 Long Rifle High Velocity, and Western Super-X 22 Rim Fire Cartridges. Internal inspection of the packaging reveals a mix of lead round nose and hollow point bullets. Visual examination of the headstamps confirms a heterogeneous collection with marks including Rem for Remington, U for Remington/UMC, F for Federal, and T, indicating that the contents are mixed and are not necessarily original to the period packaging.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes show typical age-related shelf wear including surface scuffs, corner wear, minor staining, and some small tears. Vintage retail price tags from Venture and The Sports Center are present on several boxes. The ammunition itself exhibits varying degrees of lead oxidation on the projectiles and minor tarnish on the brass cases consistent with long-term storage. Given the age and mixed nature of the cartridges, they are offered as collector items; the functionality and reliability of the ammunition have not been tested and are not guaranteed for modern use.
