Description
This Harrington & Richardson Arms Co. Model 1900 is a single-shot, break-action shotgun chambered for 16 gauge. It features a 28 inch barrel equipped with a single brass bead sight at the muzzle. The receiver utilizes a distinctive side-mounted push-button barrel release. The metal surfaces exhibit a heavily worn black finish on the barrel that is flaking and chipping throughout, while the receiver and external hammer have developed a dark brown patina. The shotgun is fitted with a smooth wood buttstock and forearm, terminating in a checkered hard rubber buttplate bearing the H&R Arms Co. logo. Key markings include the left side of the receiver stamped HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON ARMS CO. WORCESTER, MASS. U.S.A. PAT. FEB. 20 & 27 1900, and additional receiver markings stating PAT. MAY 14 1901. The barrel is marked 16 GA CHOKE. The full serial number A 67965 is located on the lower tang. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The shotgun is in fair overall condition. The barrel finish shows significant wear, flaking, and evidence of light surface oxidation. The receiver and hammer have aged to a dark, consistent brown patina. The bore was not inspected but likely exhibits wear consistent with the exterior. The action appears to function correctly; however, we have not function-tested this firearm. The wooden furniture shows numerous dings, scratches, and a small hairline crack on the upper wrist near the receiver tang. The hard rubber buttplate remains intact with minor age-related wear.
