Description
This is a Marlin Model 917V bolt-action rifle chambered in .17 H.M.R., designed as a high-velocity rimfire platform for varmint hunting and precision target shooting. The rifle features a 22-inch heavy blued bull barrel fitted with an aftermarket birdcage-style flash hider. The blued receiver is equipped with a variable-power scope mounted via standard rings, featuring a duplex reticle and Butler Creek flip-up lens covers. The firearm is housed in an attractive laminated wood thumbhole stock with a raised cheekpiece, integrated pistol grip, and a brown rubber recoil pad embossed with the Marlin horse-and-rider logo. Prominent markings on the left side of the barrel include THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO. NORTH HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. ***** MODEL 917V CAL. .17 H.M.R. ***** while the receiver is marked with the serial number 91640236. The rifle includes one detachable box magazine with a red follower. Condition report:
The metal surfaces retain nearly all of their original blued finish, showing only very light handling wear and a few minor scuffs. The laminated wood stock is in good condition, exhibiting small dings and superficial scratches consistent with field use, primarily on the forend. The rubber recoil pad is supple and well-fitted. The bolt action appears to function smoothly and the trigger pull is crisp, although the rifle has not been test-fired. The optics are clear, and the lens covers are fully functional. The bore was not inspected but the overall well-maintained exterior suggests a clean interior.
