Description
This is an Italian-manufactured Davide Pedersoli Model 170 over-under shotgun chambered for 12 gauge, designed as a field-grade sporting firearm. The 26-inch blued barrel set features a ventilated top rib, a single brass front bead, and is bored for 70mm (2.75-inch) shells with internal diameters marked at 18.4mm. The boxlock receiver features a silver-finished surface decorated with floral and geometric scroll engraving. The furniture consists of a checkered walnut stock and forend, with the buttstock capped by a black plastic buttplate embossed with a dog’s head logo. Verbatim markings on the barrels include DITTA DAVIDE PEDERSOLI MADE IN ITALY and DAKIN GUN COMPANY, SAN FRANCISCO, U.S.A. specifying the importer. The lower tang is engraved with the model designation Mod. 170. Italian proof marks including PSF, FINITO, and the date code XV corresponding to 1959 are present on the water table and barrel flats alongside the serial number 787. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal surfaces retain a fair portion of their original blued finish, though there is visible thinning at the muzzles and along the edges of the ribs, accompanied by scattered light surface oxidation and some minor pitting on the barrels. The bores are bright with light internal fouling. The receiver\'s silver finish remains largely intact with minor handling marks and softened engraving in high-wear areas. The walnut stock and forend show significant condition issues, including heavy finish loss, numerous deep scratches, dings, and mottling across the wood surfaces. The checkering is smoothed but remains functional. The action appears to function correctly and locks up tight, though we have not function-tested this firearm.
