Description
This collection consists of five vintage rifle scopes and optical tubes featuring blued finishes with various degrees of surface wear, scratches, and patina. The assortment includes one Kollmorgen Bear Cub Master scope marked Bear Cub Master and Kollmorgen Optical Corp. Brooklyn NY USA with an attached rusted mounting ring. Also included is a Weaver K2.5 fixed-power scope marked Weaver K2.5, Patented, El Paso Tex. USA, and a Weaver V4.5 variable-power scope marked Weaver V4.5, El Paso, Tex. U.S.A., Pat. No. 3161716, which features a magnification adjustment dial. Additionally, the collection contains one Glenfield 4×15 rimfire scope marked Glenfield 4 X 15 Opti-Centered Coated Japan with two mounting rings and two circular cutouts in the tube body, and one long, unmarked cylindrical optical tube with threaded ends. These optics represent classic mid-20th-century sporting and target configurations.
Condition report:
The scopes are in used, vintage condition with varying degrees of wear. The Kollmorgen and older Weaver scopes show moderate to significant thinning of the bluing, minor surface oxidation, scratch marks, and patina, with heavy rust present on the Kollmorgen mounting ring. The Weaver V4.5 scope exhibits lighter surface wear and some scratches to the tube. The Glenfield scope has clean exterior bluing but features two circular cutouts in the tube, exposing the internal mechanics. The unmarked cylindrical tube shows minor scuffs and faint surface patina. The lenses have not been professionally cleaned or thoroughly tested for optical clarity, though some dust and light debris are visible. The adjustment dials and magnification rings turn but have not been fully tested for mechanical calibration or tracking.
