Description
This Remington Sportsman-48 is a recoil-operated semi-automatic shotgun chambered for 12 gauge 2 3/4-inch shells. The shotgun features a 30-inch barrel equipped with a ventilated rib and a single front bead sight, with a fixed full choke. The receiver and barrel are constructed of steel, while the furniture consists of a checkered wood stock and forend. Prominent markings on the left side of the receiver include Remington ® SPORTSMAN-48 and the serial number 3123071. The barrel is marked REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC., ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. / PATENT NO. 2,278,589 OTHERS PENDING, along with 12 GA. FOR 2 3/4 OR SHORTER SHELLS and FULL. The entire firearm has been finished in a heavily worn non-factory yellow and brown camouflage paint pattern over the original blued and wood surfaces. The buttstock is fitted with a black rubber Limbsaver recoil pad. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The physical condition shows significant field wear, primarily characterized by the heavy chipping and thinning of the non-factory camouflage paint on all metal and wood surfaces. The underlying blued finish and wood grain are visible in high-wear areas, with scattered light surface oxidation present on exposed steel. The wood stock and forend exhibit handling marks and dings beneath the paint. The Limbsaver recoil pad shows signs of wear and minor deterioration at the edges. The action appears to cycle correctly, but the firearm has not been function-tested. The bore was not inspected.
