Description
This lot features a Smith & Wesson Model 642-2 Airweight, a double-action-only five-shot revolver chambered in .38 S&W Special +P. The firearm is configured with a 1.875-inch stainless steel barrel and a matching five-round stainless steel cylinder, both integrated into a matte silver-toned aluminum alloy frame designed for concealed carry with an internal hammer. The revolver is fitted with black textured rubberized grips featuring Smith & Wesson medallions. Sighting is provided by a fixed serrated ramp front sight and a channel notch rear sight built into the top strap. Key markings include the manufacturer and caliber designation on the left side of the barrel, stamped SMITH & WESSON over .38 S&W SPL + P. The right side of the frame is engraved with Airweight in script, the manufacturer location SPFLD, MA S&W U.S.A., and the Smith & Wesson trade mark logo. The yoke is stamped with the serial number DEA5790 and the model number 642-2, with the serial number also appearing on the bottom of the grip frame. The firearm is accompanied by a black zippered soft case with a tag for AMS of Longmont, Colorado. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The revolver is in good used condition. The matte silver finish on the aluminum alloy frame and the brushed stainless steel barrel and cylinder show light surface wear, minor handling marks, and faint rotational scoring on the cylinder. There is minor oxidation visible on the trigger. The rubberized grips are well-preserved with sharp texturing and no significant tears or gouges. The action appears to function correctly through the double-action cycle, although we have not function-tested this firearm with live ammunition. The bore was not inspected internally but the muzzle crown remains clean.
