Description
This Winchester Model 60 is a single-shot bolt-action rifle chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle cartridges. The firearm features a 23-inch round barrel equipped with a fixed front blade sight and a rear elevator leaf sight. The metal surfaces have aged to a dark brown patina with scattered surface oxidation and light pitting visible across the barrel and receiver. The rifle is fitted with a one-piece walnut stock featuring a semi-pistol grip and a black checkered composition buttplate with the Winchester logo. The bolt system utilizes a knurled cocking piece at the rear, characteristic of Winchester rimfire rifles of this period. Verbatim markings on the barrel include MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. — PATENT PENDING — and MODEL 60-22 SHORT LONG AND LONG RIFLE along with the WINCHESTER TRADE MARK. As is standard for this model and era of production, no serial number is present. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in fair overall condition with the metal finish transitioned to a consistent dark brown patina showing visible surface oxidation and light pitting. The wood stock exhibits various dings, scratches, and areas of finish wear consistent with age and field use, though it remains structurally sound. The bore is dark with visible rifling and shows some internal pitting. The action appears to function correctly, although the firearm has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The buttplate shows minor chipping and wear at the toe and heel.
