Description
This Stevens Model 311 is a classic American side-by-side break-action shotgun chambered for 12-gauge 2-3/4 inch shells. The firearm features 27-inch barrels with a matted rib and a single red bead front sight. The action is a hammerless design utilizing double triggers and a manual top-tang safety. The shotgun is equipped with its original mottled green and brown synthetic Tenite stock and forend, which includes checkering on the pistol grip and a grooved integral buttplate. Verbatim markings on the barrel include PROOF TESTED — 12 GAUGE / — 2 3/4 INCH CHAMBER — and SELECTED FORGED STEEL. The sides of the receiver are stamped STEVENS MODEL 311, with the left side further specifying SAVAGE ARMS CORPORATION / CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS. U.S.A. Additional inspection markings include the number 5100 near the front receiver pin, along with KT and a circled B on the barrel flats and water table. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The shotgun exhibits moderate wear across all surfaces consistent with field use. The blued finish on the barrels shows visible thinning and areas of light surface oxidation and minor pitting. The receiver\'s original case-hardened finish has faded significantly, transitioning to a mottled grey patina with noticeable surface freckling. The bores were not internally inspected, but the exterior condition suggests moderate use. The action appears to function correctly, and the break-open lever exhibits positive tension. The Tenite synthetic stock and forend remain in good condition with scattered light scratches and scuffs consistent with age, while the checkering remains relatively sharp and defined.
