Description
The Remington Model 740 Woodsmaster is a gas-operated semi-automatic rifle chambered in the versatile .30-06 Springfield caliber, intended for hunting and sporting use. This example features a blued steel finish on the receiver and barrel, paired with a smooth walnut stock and forend. The rifle is equipped with a ramp-adjustable rear sight and a hooded ramp front sight. It includes a single detachable box magazine. Markings on the left side of the receiver include Remington over the serial number 211503, and Woodsmaster over MODEL 740 with a registered trademark symbol. The barrel is stamped with the manufacturer’s information Remington Arms Co. Inc., Ilion, N.Y. Made in U.S.A., Patent No. 2,685,754 and Others, and the caliber designation .30-06 SPRG. Proof marks including REP within an oval and the letter M are present on the barrel breech. The wood furniture is finished with a black checkered plastic buttplate featuring the Remington logo. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in good overall condition. The blued finish on the receiver and barrel shows light surface wear, scattered small scratches, and minor thinning, primarily at the edges and high points. The wood stock and forend are well-maintained with typical light dings and handling marks, including a small orange-colored blemish on the left side of the forend. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The action appears to function correctly, although the firearm has not been function-tested or test-fired. The plastic buttplate exhibits minor wear but remains in good condition.
