Description
This is a single Harrington & Richardson Automatic Ejecting Second Model top-break, double-action revolver chambered for .38 S&W cartridges. This model was designed for black powder cartridges and features a 3.25-inch barrel with a built-in automatic ejector that operates when the action is broken open. The revolver is equipped with a five-shot fluted cylinder and was originally finished in nickel plating. The furniture consists of two-piece checkered black hard rubber grips with the intertwined H&R logo at the top of each panel. Sighting is achieved via a fixed front blade and a rear notch integrated into the barrel latch. Prominent markings include the manufacturer and patent data on the barrel rib: HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON ARMS COMPANY / WORCESTER MASS. U.S.A. PATD OCT 4TH 1887. The full serial number 474212 is stamped on the frame under the top latch, and a matching partial serial number 212 is visible on the rear face of the cylinder. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The nickel finish is in poor to fair condition, exhibiting widespread loss of plating, surface oxidation, and significant pitting across the barrel, cylinder, and frame. The bore is dark with visible pitting throughout. The double-action and single-action mechanisms appear to function correctly, and the top-break latch locks up securely, though we have not function-tested this firearm with live ammunition. The hard rubber grips remain in very good condition with crisp checkering and no visible cracks or chips.
