Description
This is a Remington Sportmaster Model 512 bolt-action rifle, a versatile rimfire firearm designed to chamber and fire .22 Short, .22 Long, or .22 Long Rifle cartridges. It features a 25-inch barrel fitted with a full-length tubular magazine under the barrel, providing a significant capacity for a rimfire rifle. The metal components exhibit a blued finish, and the rifle is mounted in a one-piece wood stock with a semi-pistol grip and a smooth finish. The sighting arrangement consists of a fixed blade front sight and a step-adjustable rear leaf sight. The rifle is completed with a black plastic buttplate embossed with the Remington logo. Prominent barrel markings include REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC., ILION N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A. along with PATS – 1,908,035 – 1,913,840 – 2,356,257 – 2,369,244. Additional barrel inscriptions specify Remington SPORTMASTER MODEL 512 and 22 SHORT, LONG, OR LONG RIFLE. A date code D CS is visible on the barrel near the receiver. In accordance with manufacturing standards for this period, no external serial number is present on the receiver. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The firearm is in fair condition, showing signs of significant age and field use. The blued finish on the barrel and receiver has thinned and exhibits areas of surface oxidation, light pitting, and general wear. The bolt handle and receiver show silvering and some dark discoloration. The wood stock remains structurally sound but displays numerous scratches, dings, and impressions throughout the finish, with some larger marks near the butt and forend. The bore was not inspected, but the exterior condition suggests regular use. The action appears to function correctly when manually cycled, and the trigger is responsive, though the firearm has not been test-fired.
