Lot 1149:
British Model 1777 British Pattern Long Sea Service Pistol
Sold for: $1,450
Description
An antique British Model 1777 British Pattern Long Sea Service Pistol. This example features a dark-toned wooden stock, paired with a heavily patinated steel barrel and lock mechanism. Brass furniture includes a distinct rounded butt cap, a trigger guard, and several ramrod thimbles. The steel lock plate is clearly marked “TOWER” vertically near the front, and “GR” beneath a crown, indicative of *Georgius Rex* (King George), suggesting a British military or government association.
Condition report:
The apparent condition reflects considerable age and use, exhibiting a worn patina on the wood with various surface scratches and minor losses, particularly around the lock and barrel. The steel components show dark oxidation and pitting, and the brass fittings are tarnished. The mechanism appears complete but functionality is untested.
