Description
A U.S. Model 1873 Trapdoor Springfield socket bayonet featuring a triangular steel blade and a matching dark metal scabbard. The bayonet is accompanied by a worn leather frog, which is secured to the scabbard by a round brass-toned button. The button prominently displays “US” in raised letters on a green field. A “US” stamp is visible near the base of the bayonet blade.
Condition report:
The bayonet and scabbard exhibit significant age and use. Metal components show a dark patina, scattered surface scratches, and some oxidation. The leather frog is dry, scuffed, and shows wear consistent with its age.
