Description

An antique French Model An XIII flintlock cavalry pistol, manufactured by the Imperial Manufacture of Saint-Étienne. The lock plate is clearly marked “Man[ufacture] imp[ériale] de St. Etienne,” and the barrel bears a stamp “B 1812” or “9 1812,” indicating a probable manufacture date around 1812, placing it firmly within the Napoleonic era. The pistol features a dark wooden stock, with iron or steel components for the barrel and lock. Brass furniture includes the trigger guard, a front barrel band marked “G*” and “4,” and a butt cap marked “H.” Additional faint markings “P T” are visible near the lock screw.

Condition report:

Well-worn condition, consistent with significant age and use. The metal components exhibit extensive surface oxidation, pitting, and a dark patina. The wooden stock shows numerous dents, scratches, and wear marks from handling. The flint in the hammer is chipped.
