Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 1265:
Sold for: $85
Description
An inert 37mm ‘Pom-Pom’ training round, comprising a disassembled brass cartridge casing and a separate projectile. The projectile features a dark grey, likely steel or iron, conical body with a textured finish and a distinct copper driving band. The associated brass casing shows significant tarnishing and a central, corroded primer-like component. The base of the casing is stamped with Cyrillic text and numerals, including “ПАМ”, “В.Г.С.”, “1931”, and “УЧБ”, with “УЧБ” translating to “Training” or “Practice.” While the ‘Pom-Pom’ designation is commonly associated with World War I-era automatic cannon rounds, the 1931 date and “УЧБ” marking indicate this particular example was produced as a non-live training round post-WWI, utilizing a similar caliber and design.
Condition report:
Disassembled. Fair to good condition. Exhibits significant age-related wear, including tarnishing to the brass casing and surface corrosion on both the casing and the steel projectile. The central primer-like component is corroded.
