Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 1329:
Sold for: $600
Description
An antique Whitney Navy 2nd Model percussion revolver, featuring an octagonal barrel, a loading lever, and an open top frame design consistent with mid-19th century firearms. The main components, including the barrel, frame, and six-shot cylinder, are crafted from iron or steel. The trigger guard appears to be brass or bronze, showing a tarnished golden hue. The two-piece grips are made of dark, worn wood. Visible markings include the serial number “23753” and a faint “Y” on the underside of the barrel, along with two distinct “B” stamps on the frame/barrel lug.
Condition report:
The revolver exhibits heavy dark patina, extensive surface rust, and pitting across the iron/steel components. The brass/bronze trigger guard shows tarnishing. The wooden grips are dark and worn, with some surface loss and minor indentations. Overall condition is consistent with significant age, use, and environmental exposure for an antique firearm.
