Lot 1388:
A German Military Leather Folding Tool Case
Sold for: $25
Description
This robust, dark brown leather case or pouch features a hinged top flap secured by a black button-style fastener. Its utilitarian design incorporates a metal D-ring on the front for attachment and a two-compartment interior with a visible metal spring mechanism, suggesting it was designed to hold specific equipment such as a folding saw or shovel. No discernible text or maker’s marks are visible on the exterior or interior. The piece exhibits considerable signs of age and heavy use, indicative of its historical utility.
Condition report:
Good antique condition, consistent with age and heavy military use. The leather shows extensive scuffing, creasing, and surface wear, with some areas exhibiting loss of original finish and minor discoloration. The stitching remains largely intact, and the metal D-ring and button fastener are present and functional. Structurally sound.
