Description
A U.S. Springfield Model 1887 .45-70 Trapdoor Rifle. This vintage military breech-loading rifle features a dark stained wood stock and aged metal components. The receiver is marked “MODEL 1887” and bears the serial number “431413”. The barrel exhibits “V.P” proof marks followed by an eagle stamp and “P”. Faded initials “S.D.” and “G.A.” are visible near the metal butt plate, and a faint circular cartouche is present on the left side of the stock.
Condition report:
Heavily aged condition. The wooden stock shows considerable wear, numerous scratches, dents, and a worn finish. Metal components exhibit extensive bluing loss, surface oxidation, and pitting, consistent with long-term use and age.
