Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 1402:
Sold for: $100
Description
An Italian Model 1891 Carcano Bayonet with its corresponding metal scabbard. The bayonet features a single-edged steel blade with a single fuller, a steel crossguard with a lower quillon terminating in a rounded finial, and a wooden grip secured by two rivets, transitioning to a steel pommel with a mortise slot for rifle attachment. The crossguard is stamped “DRS 3624”. The dark metal scabbard has a matching serial number, “R.S. 3624”, impressed on its throat band, accompanied by a small mark featuring a crown and a lion motif.
Condition report:
Both items exhibit considerable wear, heavy patination, surface corrosion, and scratches. The wooden grips show chips, dings, and loss of original finish, indicative of age and historical use.
