Description
A group of three dark brown leather military pistol holsters, dating to the early 20th century. The tall, rightmost holster is clearly stamped “ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL 1906” and “H.E.K.” on its flap, consistent with U.S. military issue holsters of the period, and features three prominent green-patinated circular metal details on its front. It is secured by a leather strap and stud. The leftmost holster, also secured by a leather strap and stud, bears fainter interior flap marks including “3196”, “JUL”, and “L 88”. The central, smaller holster features a brass-toned snap closure. The two smaller holsters feature brass-toned snap closures.
Condition report:
All items exhibit significant wear commensurate with age and use. This includes overall scuffs, scratches, and surface cracking to the leather. There is considerable loss of original finish, particularly visible as white flaking on the rightmost holster. The brass-toned snaps and metal details show patination and wear. Stitching appears largely intact but shows signs of age.
