Lot 1449:
A British Light Dragoon Flintlock Pistol
Sold for: $700
Description
An antique British Light Dragoon Flintlock Pistol, constructed with a polished dark wood stock, an iron or steel barrel, and brass furniture. The lock plate is visibly marked with a crown symbol above what appears to be a royal cypher, likely “GR” (Georgius Rex), suggesting British military or government association. On the brass side plate, the number “42” is clearly engraved, indicating a probable inventory or rack number. A steel ramrod is present within the forend.
Condition report:
The steel components, including the barrel, hammer, and frizzen, exhibit significant surface oxidation, pitting, and loss of original finish. The brass elements show typical patination and minor wear. The wood stock displays numerous scratches, small dents, and wear consistent with age and use, but appears structurally sound. Good antique condition commensurate with age and use.
