Description
A US Eddystone Model 1917 Sporterized Bolt-Action Rifle, constructed from blued steel and a dark stained wooden stock. The receiver is prominently marked “U. S.”, “MODEL OF 1917”, “EDDYSTONE”, and features the serial number “1166616”. Further visible markings include a flaming bomb ordnance mark and the date “9-18” on the barrel near the front sight, an “OC” proof mark on the bolt handle, and a faint star-shaped mark on the left side of the buttstock. The rifle exhibits modifications consistent with sporterization, including a shortened stock profile.
Condition report:
The rifle is in good, used condition, exhibiting scratches, dings, and finish wear consistent with its age and intended use. The blued finish shows thinning and wear, particularly on high points and edges. The dark stained wooden stock has numerous impressions, scratches, and areas of finish loss, but no major structural damage or cracks are apparent. The bolt action appears functional.
