An Antique British BSA Co. Snider-Enfield Breech-Loading Military Rifle, dated 1871. This vintage military rifle is constructed from wood and steel with brass components on the trigger guard, butt plate, and forend accents. Visible markings on the lock plate include "V.R." (Victoria Regina) beneath a crown, "B.S.A.C°" (Birmingham Small Arms Company), and the date "1871." The breech shows a serial number "28311" and various proof marks, including what appears to be three asterisks or stars. The rifle appears complete with its ramrod and adjustable rear sight.
Condition report:
en The wooden stock features a rich, aged finish with prominent grain, exhibiting extensive surface wear, scratching, and darker staining, particularly on the buttstock where faint numbers are visible. Metal components display a mottled grey patina with areas of surface oxidation, wear, and some pitting, consistent with its age and use. Overall good, aged condition.
