Description
This military bayonet features a single-edged, fullered steel blade with a spear point. The dark metal hilt comprises a hooked quillon, a ring guard, and grip scales secured by two rivets. A bayonet lug locking mechanism is integrated into the pommel. Visible markings on the ricasso include “TORINO” within an oval cartouche, along with the serial number “61783” and a smaller, stylized proof mark. The number “61783” is also stamped on the crossguard.
Condition report:
The blade exhibits significant surface wear, pitting, and discoloration, consistent with rust and age. The metal hilt components show heavy surface corrosion and loss of original finish. An orange mark is visible on the bayonet lug release button. Overall, the item is in fair to poor condition, reflecting considerable age and historical use.
