Description
An Austrian Steyr Mauser Model 1871 bolt-action military rifle, manufactured in 1874. The rifle is constructed with a dark wood stock and barrel/receiver components appearing to be steel and brass or bronze alloys. Key visible markings on the receiver include “OESTERR.WAFF.GES” (Austrian Weapons Factory Company), “Mod. 71”, the year “1874”, and serial number “6536P” repeated, along with an “EW” monogram and a crown proof. The metal buttplate is marked “B.I.R. 7. 110.” (7th Bavarian Infantry Regiment, Weapon 110) and numbers “6” and “8”.
Condition report:
The item presents in heavily used antique condition. The wooden stock shows extensive wear, scratches, and gouges. All metal surfaces exhibit significant patination and surface oxidation consistent with age and prolonged use.
