Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 1522:
Sold for: $80
Description
A 19th Century European military yataghan sword bayonet with its accompanying metal scabbard. The bayonet features a single-edged steel blade with a wide fuller, a dark grip (likely wood or a composite material) secured by rivets, and a steel hilt with a curved quillon and an integrated muzzle ring. Visible markings include “ТПК” (transliterated as TPK) stamped in Cyrillic on the scabbard’s frog stud, “M76” and the serial number “3778” on the guard, and faint “AC” or “NC” and other marks on the ricasso. The form of the bayonet is consistent with examples such as the French Model 1866 Chassepot and the Danish Model 1867 Yataghan bayonets.
Condition report:
The item shows significant signs of age and use. The scabbard exhibits heavy surface rust and pitting. The bayonet blade presents numerous scratches, discolouration, and some areas of surface corrosion. The hilt also shows areas of surface corrosion.
