Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 1543:
Sold for: $170
Description
A vintage U.S. WWI military brass bugle by Wurlitzer, featuring a traditional tapered bell and a single looped tube with a separate mouthpiece receiver. The instrument is stamped on the bell with the manufacturer’s name “WURLITZER”, location “PHILA. DEPOT”, specification “SPEC. 1152”, and date “5-25-17” (May 25, 1917). Two small suspension rings are affixed to the main tubing.
Condition report:
The instrument is heavily patinated with a dark, uneven surface and significant green verdigris, particularly in the tubing\'s curves and joints, indicative of considerable age and exposure. Despite the heavy oxidation, the bugle appears structurally intact, though it shows surface wear consistent with its condition.
