Description

An antique Prussian Model 1850 Percussion Cavalry Pistol. This 19th-century percussion cap pistol features a dark wooden stock, a steel barrel and lock mechanism, and brass furniture including the trigger guard, a barrel band, and a butt cap with a lanyard ring. The lock plate is clearly marked “Potsdam” below a crown emblem, indicating its origin. The barrel tang displays the dates “1853” and “1866” alongside a crowned “M” proof mark, suggesting its period of manufacture and potential later service or refurbishment. The brass trigger guard is inscribed with “U.11.5.64.”, likely a unit or inventory mark from 1864.

Condition report:

Good antique condition, consistent with age and historical use. The pistol exhibits a functional but aged appearance. There is patination and surface wear throughout, with minor pitting visible on the steel components. The wooden stock shows visible handling marks and scratches, commensurate with its age and historical use.
