Description

An antique repeating lever-action carbine, identified as a Spencer Model 1860 Repeating Saddle Ring Carbine, .52 caliber, consistent with Civil War era production. The firearm is primarily constructed from dark wood for the stock and forearm, and ferrous metal for the barrel, receiver, and action components. Visible markings prominently engraved on the receiver indicate “SPENCER REPEATING / RIFLE CO. BOSTON. MASS. / PAT’D MARCH 6 1860.” Additional markings include “M.1065” on the barrel and the serial number “7492” on the receiver, alongside a faint “W” stamped into the wooden stock. The firearm is equipped with a saddle ring on the left side of the receiver, sling swivels, and a metal buttplate featuring a trapdoor mechanism.

Condition report:

The carbine exhibits significant age and use. The wooden elements show extensive wear, scratches, and dents. The metal components display a dark, oxidized patina with areas of surface corrosion present across the surfaces.
