Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 239:
Sold for: $140
Description
A Vietnam War National Liberation Front (NLF) Viet Cong Flag. Identified by an accompanying tag as a “Vietnam War Souvenir” brought back in 1967, and noting a “2nd Lt. Bar pinned to flag.” The woven textile flag features a horizontal bi-color design, with an orange upper half and a blue lower half. A large, appliqued yellow five-pointed star is centered, overlapping both sections. A small, rectangular gold-colored metal bar is pinned to the upper left quadrant of the flag. Natural fiber ropes are tied to the hoist edge, indicating its original use as a banner.
Condition report:
The flag exhibits significant wear consistent with age and use, including prominent creasing, discoloration, and staining, particularly on the blue fabric. There is some fraying around the appliqued star and visible stitching throughout. The metal bar appears securely pinned.
