Lot 244:
A German BGS (Bundesgrenzschutz) Feldflasche Canteen
Sold for: $30
Description
A German BGS (Bundesgrenzschutz) Feldflasche Canteen, featuring an olive green, kidney-bean shaped internal vessel, likely metal. The vessel is encased in a dark green canvas-like fabric cover with visible stitching and a padded appearance, accented with dark green trim, possibly synthetic or leather. The canteen is topped with a two-part metal screw-cap system, the outer portion of which retains traces of green paint and connects to the fabric cover. An olive green woven fabric strap with a metal snap-hook and a metal button-fastened tab is attached. A zipper runs along one side of the fabric cover, with its pull tab visibly marked “D.R.P.” (Deutsches Reichspatent).
Condition report:
Good overall condition commensurate with age and use. The fabric cover shows extensive wear, fading, and discoloration, particularly to the front and sides. Metal components exhibit paint loss and surface wear, consistent with military field use. Minor scuffs and marks throughout.
