Lot 282:
Sold for: $550
Description
A British Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk. I bolt-action military rifle, manufactured in 1944. This rifle features a full, dark reddish-brown wooden stock and forend, paired with blued steel components including the bolt, receiver, barrel bands, and detachable magazine. Receiver markings include “No.4 Mk.I”, “1944”, “PP0374”, “P36106”, “M/47C”, and “36106”. An importer’s mark, “NAVY ARMS MARTINSBURG, WV”, is present on the barrel. The rifle is fitted with a worn brown canvas sling with metal hardware, and the buttplate is brass with a hinged compartment.
Condition report:
Overall fair to good condition, consistent with age and military use. The wooden stock and forend exhibit numerous scuffs, scratches, and dings. The blued finish on the metal components shows areas of loss, wear, and some surface oxidation, particularly on the receiver and barrel. The canvas sling is worn and faded. The brass buttplate shows tarnishing and minor abrasions. Mechanical action appears to be present, but functionality is untested and not guaranteed.
