Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 321:
Sold for: $275
Description
A Chinese Type 53 Mosin Nagant Carbine, chambered in 7.62x54R. This bolt-action military rifle features a dark stained wooden stock and blued or parkerized steel components, equipped with a fixed spike bayonet. Visible markings on the receiver include the date “1941” and a triangular arsenal mark with an arrow, indicative of the Izhevsk (ИЖЕВСК) factory. Further markings include a partial serial number “ДБ924” (DB924 in Latin characters) on the receiver, “46019” on the bolt, and the date “1960” stamped on the right side of the buttstock, possibly denoting a refurbishment or inventory date. The presence of an Izhevsk 1941 dated receiver on a Chinese Type 53 carbine is consistent with the practice of Chinese arsenals utilizing Soviet-made components during their production and refurbishment of these rifles.
Condition report:
The rifle shows significant wear consistent with military use, exhibiting dings and scratches on the wood, and finish loss, minor pitting, and some surface rust on the metal parts. Overall fair to good condition.
