Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 378:
Sold for: $475
Description
An antique Colt double-action revolver, identified as a U.S. Army Model 1892. This example is constructed primarily of blued steel with dark wooden grip panels. The barrel is faintly inscribed “COLT D.A. 38,” indicating its manufacturer and probable .38 caliber. The serial number “3464” is visible at the barrel/frame junction. The butt strap is distinctly marked “U.S. No. 143 464,” signifying its military issue. Further markings include “R.A.G.” on the frame, consistent with an inspector’s mark (likely R.A.C. for Rinaldo A. Carr), and a five-pointed star proof mark near the trigger guard. The revolver features a six-shot cylinder with a star-shaped extractor.
Condition report:
Fair to poor condition. The finish exhibits significant loss and overall surface wear consistent with age and use. There are notable structural cracks present on the frame above the trigger guard. The wooden grip panels show wear and minor abrasions. Mechanical functionality is not guaranteed and should be assessed by a qualified professional.
