Description
This military-style bayonet or knife features a steel blade with a single fuller on one side and a clipped point. The hilt comprises a metal crossguard, two-piece wooden grip scales secured by two screws, and a metal pommel. Markings on one ricasso include ‘1913’ vertically, ‘4. 16’ horizontally, and a stylized emblem resembling ‘S&S’ or similar. The opposite ricasso bears a faint marking like ‘w.ö.B.’ with a crown symbol, and a faint ‘D’ is visible on the pommel. The ‘1913’ likely indicates a design or model year, and ‘4. 16’ could suggest a production date of April 1916.
Condition report:
The item is in good antique condition, exhibiting expected wear consistent with its age and use. This includes surface scratches, some patination and minor pitting to the metal, and commensurate wear to the wooden grip.
