The lot includes a black fabric “U.S. ARMY” name tape and a yellow U.S. Army 1st Cavalry Division shoulder patch, embroidered with a horse head, “AN KHE,” and “VIET NAM.” Two full-size metal medals are present: a bronze-tone Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, depicting bamboo and tigers on the obverse and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” on the reverse, suspended from a yellow, red, and green striped ribbon; and a gold-tone, eight-pointed star Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with a green central medallion inscribed “CHIẾN DỊCH QUỐC GIA VIỆT NAM” (National Campaign Vietnam) on the reverse, suspended from a green and white striped ribbon featuring a “1960-” bar. Accompanying these are three ribbon bars: one matching the green and white striped ribbon with a “1960-” bar, one yellow, red, and green striped bar with three bronze stars, and one red, yellow, and blue striped bar. The collection also contains two small plastic-sleeved cards: one displaying the flag of Vietnam with “GION XON” (Johnson), and another featuring a 1st Cavalry Division emblem alongside Vietnamese text that translates to “Determined to defeat the American invaders, no reward” and “Wound Reward 10,000 Piastres.”
